the only time I get patriotic is at international sporting events (so really, not that often), but I was pretty darn proud of the red, white, & blue at the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship, held right here in Burlington, Vermont. last night, my siblings and I went to go support team USA in their match against Russia. they didn't really need it, though, as the crowd was 99.9% pro-America and they ended up crushing the Russians 9 - 0. ouch. I knew basically nothing about hockey before attending the game, but I loved how fast-paced the play was and the raw skill and aggression that each player displayed. they may be girls, but they weren't afraid to throw themselves across the ice to intercept a pass or check an opponent into the boards to scare them off.
the tournament is running through April 14th. maybe team USA will win the whole thing!
