on Friday night I curled up on the couch and streamed Submarine on Netflix. I've been meaning to watch it for ages and I'm so glad that I finally got around to it. it's visually stunning and rather emotionally intense. it has the angst and melodrama and general ennui that a movie recording the internal quandaries of a 15 year old Welsh boy should. it's use of type and color was excellent and every scene was shot with such intention that I could watch it on mute and still be intrigued. it was very Wes Anderson-esque and got me in the mood to watch his new piece, Moonrise Kingdom, when it comes out later this month.
