I finally got a roll of film developed this weekend that I started in August.  I can barely remember taking some of these shots, and this film was a little more imperfect than usual. I like the flaws in these images (more of which will be posted in the upcoming week), whether they're sun flares, leaked light, or too much of a shadow.  and I'm leaving them all untouched.  that's the beauty of film, right?

this fall I took a weekend trip to visit on of my best friends at Yale where she's getting some crazy advanced degree, and I made a point to take some film photos while I was there.  I felt a little out of place with my unbrushed hair, nose ring, slouchy tee, and cut-off shorts; I guess the Ivy League look is a little more in the vein of Ralph Lauren Polo.  I suppose I also had the at-ease appearance of someone who is completely done with her degree so I could not have cared less about fitting in.

I took far fewer pictures in Paris on this trip than I did last year.  I'm not sure if it was because it wasn't totally new to me, if the cold deterred me from whipping my camera out at all times, or if I just wasn't too inspired to document it all.  it also probably had to do with the fact that I wasn't wandering around the city alone.  I'm much less inclined to take pictures if I'm walking with a group of people, and I think those people distract me from seeing something that I absolutely must capture in a certain way.  oh well.  c'est la vie.

I actually have even fewer pictures than I thought I did -- my 2nd roll of film didn't actually take in my camera!  so when I went to pick up my developed film the other day there was only 1 waiting for me. I was so sad.  I guess this means I have another excuse to back to Versailles again.  and I had taken so many gems in the Hall of Mirrors.
