Laetitia on Inside Closet

inside, lifestyleAnna KellerComment

I recently discovered Inside Closet and just had to add it to my Feedly. it's a blog focusing on French women and their closets and apartments. I could look at apartment inspiration blogs all day long, but this one stands out to me because it doesn't focus on immaculately curated shelfies* or perfectly color coordinated walls of Céline and Acne. it aims to shine a spotlight on unique women and their spaces, who manage to get up every morning and make themselves look beautiful and different from the hoards of style bloggers out there. it all happens to be en Français, but if you're like me and can basically only order some wine in a cafe with your high school level French language skills, it's OK to just sift through the images and occasionally turn to Google Translate for assistance.

I really love the three part series she recently did on a woman named Laetitia. her apartment is simple and clean, with thoughtful collections and elements throughout that make you think, hey, she really lives there! but also, she clearly doesn't like to hoard crap

Marie Marot, the Parisian designer featured on The Coveteur today, says that she doesn't design with trends in mind, but instead works, "thematically. One season it will be a board of feelings, the next, a pantheon of my heroes. Or a season without wordplay but with strong words I really like."
one glance at the roundup of photos that The Coveteur team snapped made me think of the ocean - not the serene and clear water of the tropics, but the chilly and terrifying waves that you'll find off the coast of Iceland. I'm not sure if this is what she's trying to convey, but it's stunning and makes me want pull that beautiful beanie down almost over my eyes and curl up under a giant throw blanket.
it's perfect, wintry, and très chic, non?

over the past week here in Vermont, we went from high summer straight to mid-fall.  the nights and mornings are chilly, and nothing sounds better than snuggling on the couch with a hot mug of tea and either my boyfriend, or my cat, depending on who is around.  this also means that sweater weather has arrived much faster than usual, and while I am not emotionally prepared to swap out my sandals for my boots quite yet, I'm welcoming the opportunity to throw on a leather jacket and a scarf to help deal with the dipping temps.  and luckily for us, the Madewell fall lookbook came out just in time for some much needed inspiration.  I don't think anyone was surprised by the abundance of flannel and heavy knits, but this catalog is just what I need to get me excited for the next 8 cold months.

back in school, this weird period between Thanksgiving and Christmas barely existed.  it was a time for studying (er, cramming), paper writing, and drinking large quantities of really cheap wine while wearing an ugly but cozy sweater.  now, in the real, adult world, it's just business as usual this week, and the elusive idea of time off is a distant but tangible thing to look forward to.

my Thanksgiving was actually a lot of fun, full of food, wine (both Beaujolias nouveau as a nod to last year's Thanksgiving in Paris and mulled wine in honor of the Lithuanian one before that), and shooting things with my brother's air rifle in the woods.  because that's what Vermonters do.

my sister and I fueled up for Black Friday shopping with coffee, eggs, pancakes, and bacon at the Pearl Street Diner, and then I proceeded to spend $0 on clothes, electronics, etc. I did buy something off of the Dollar Menu for a snack later in the day and had a pint of Lagunitas Brown Shugga' at McGillicudy's - that shit is strong (9.99%) and delicious.  highly recommend it!

now I'm slogging through the week and counting down the days until I can have a little time away from work to spend with family and friends.  we're in the final stretch!
